The winery was founded in 1870 by Abraham Teperberg and his son Zeev Zaid Teperberg. Managed by Moti Teperberg, it is now one of Israel’s leading wineries, producing more than 100 varieties of wine and grape juice. The company sells more than 4 million bottles a year worldwide. Teperberg is one of Israel’s best-known wineries.
This Israeli wine is made from Chardonnay 55% and Sémillon 45% varietals. The Chardonnay grapes arrived at the winery in the morning after being mechanically harvested. They are immediately, gently and quickly pressed to produce a high quality white must. The must is transferred to refrigerated stainless steel tanks for 24 hours to separate the clear juice from the lees. Once the must is decanted, yeast is added and fermentation begins. This lasts for two to three weeks at low temperature to preserve the wine’s aromas. Sémillon grapes are harvested around two weeks and then undergo a similar process. The wine does not undergo malolactic fermentation to preserve its crisp and fresh characteristics. A white wine that is delicate yet full-bodied in flavour. It is soft and very friendly to the palate. Its mild citrus flavour and spring fragrance lend a delicate, refreshing acidity and a unique texture. Serve as an aperitif or with sushi, it goes perfectly with Mediterranean cuisine.
