Teperberg Legacy Petite Verdot

The winery was founded in 1870 by Abraham Teperberg and his son Zeev Zaid Teperberg. Managed by Moti Teperberg, it is now one of Israel’s leading wineries, producing more than 100 varieties of wine and grape juice. The company sells more than 4 million bottles a year worldwide. Teperberg is one of Israel’s best-known wineries.

Distinguished by its deep, dark colour, the wine has a rich plum aroma that clings to the palate and gently blends in with the flavours of the wood. The texture is almost malleable and its flavour lingers long after the sip. Petit Verdot Legacy comes from two unique vineyards. The first parcel is located in the Ayalon Valley, on chalky soil which is characterised by slow ripening of the grapes. This vineyard is distinguished by its cool climate due to its location in the valley. The vines are exposed to a constant flow of cool air. The vines in the second vineyard parcel in the Judean Hills have been grafted onto rootstock, which limits excessively rapid growth and also has a favourable microclimate. At both sites, the vineyard has a fine-tuned canopy mechanism to manipulate light penetration. Petit Verdot grapes from each parcel are harvested at night and arrive at the vineyard in the early morning. After fermentation, the wine is placed in French oak barrels where it is matured for 18 months.
